In recent years, when community concerns were heightened at the lack of public off-street parking on Doncaster Hill, council could always pacify residents by announcing a comprehensive parking review over a 12 months period.
There was never any intention to create additional off-street parking areas and accordingly the consultant’s brief was always confined to parking management only. Frustrated at the negative results of previous reviews, residents are no longer deterred from complaining during the study periods and are now demanding improved additional facilities at once. Stubbornly, council are continuing to respond by employing the same worn out “yes minister” tactic, resulting in a ludicrous and embarrassing situation where parking reviews are likely to be continually ongoing.
