Two Major Developments for Reynolds Road Doncaster East
Spreading the developments around to the Pines area… this info sent in for you all.
It confirms that intensive property development is no longer isolated to the Koonung Ward with the Doncaster Hill issues, it’s rapidly spreading to Mullum Mullum Ward
We’ve found out that there are 2x planned developments for Reynolds Road Doncaster East, they are:
- 187-191 Reynolds Road- the Reynolds Gardens development. It’s not just 16 townhouses as in one sales brochure, but also 72 apartments (between United Petrol Station and Cherry Hill Tavern)
- Development already started
- 180-200 Reynolds Road- the new land acquisition by JD International.
- There was a mention of this development in the The Weekly Review local paper and the article confirmed 308 intended apartments!
- This is opposite the Pines, between Shell Petrol Station and Andersons Park.
- Planning permit has been issued.
It confirms that intensive property development is no longer isolated to the Koonung Ward with the Doncaster Hill issues, it’s rapidly spreading to Mullum Mullum Ward, as suspected, because the Pines area was on the hit list for development in the Strategy document the Council released last year.
As I investigated the website on the weekend, I found out about the second one and it just happened to be reported on in the paper today but it was a small article.
Reynolds Gardens. This new development is quite near to my church (Templestowe Baptist) and it was mentioned a couple of months ago that there is a new development on the agenda in future which might affect our church (positively or negatively, we are yet to see and we don’t have any details about it either apart from the sales brochure I stumbled across). At the time, I didn’t know the name, company or location but now we do.
I know that they have more space there than Doncaster Hill but in my opinion I am surprised at such large scale developments on prime land.
Does this give an opportunity for congestion around Doncaster Hill to be relieved if housing development is shifted to the Pines area??
If you can make the RAIDID members aware of these two developments on Reynolds Road it may help in some way.
I think the second one will be huge (308 apartments will surely have an impact of some sort), but I do not think many local residents would be aware of it.
Thank you.
The Pines area is part of the DD08 high density development plan from Manningham Council. And yes they are spreading well beyond the Doncaster Hill to other main road and shopping areas. See the Maps here :
