PUBLIC COOLING ON ANTHROPOGENIC WARMING

The latest comprehensive research conducted by the CSIRO indicates that most people believe global warming is actually happening but only 45.9% thought it was  human induced. The study also found there was an increase in the percentage of people that didn’t know or thought global warming wasn’t happening. Not the sort of data you would want released on the eve of the December climate change conference in Paris where Australia could be asked to contribute billions to the Green Climate Fund which is expected to collect $100 billion a year by 2020.

The study results are compelling when you consider that it comes from CSIRO, the very pioneers of the climate science in Australia. The goal of this fund is to subsidize green energy and pay for other climate adaptation and mitigation programs in poorer nations–and to get buy-in (literally) from those poorer nations for the final Paris agreement. Climate negotiations leading up to the Paris conference called

for a Green Climate Fund.  This could boil down to the willingness of richer countries like Australia to commit to financing for developing countries. In exchange for this, developing nations could then sign up for the deal. Developing nations had quite rightly argued that wind and solar power are very very expensive and they shouldn’t have to forgo economic growth simply because developed nations have dramatically increased their standards of living on economies fueled by coal, oil, and gas.

In Australia, surface temperatures on the land have been recorded at many sites since the mid to late 19th century By 1910, Australia had a reliable network of thermometers and the data they produced have been extensively analysed by the Bureau of Meteorology and scientists at CSIRO, Australian universities and international research institutions. This reveals that since 1910, Australia’s annual-average daily maximum temperatures have increased by 0.75°

However, University of Alabama in Huntsville’s satellite temperature data has shown no statistically significant global warming trend. For over 20 years there’s been no warming trend apparent in the satellite records and will soon be entering into year 22 with no warming trend apparent in satellite data — which examines the lowest few miles of the Earth’s atmosphere.

Satellite data from the Remote Sensing Systems (RSS) group also shows a prolonged “hiatus” in global warming. After November of this year, RSS data will be in its 22nd year without warming.  Ironically, the so-called “hiatus” in warming started when then vice President Al Gore and environmental groups touted RSS satellite data as evidence a slight warming trend since 1979.

Roy Spencer. P.h. D, Climatologist. author, and former NASA scientist… When asked if the earth is actually warming? “There is no way to know, because natural year-to-year variability in global temperature is so large, with warming and cooling occurring all the time. What we can say is that surface and lower atmospheric temperature have risen in the last 30 to 50 years, with most of that warming in the Northern Hemisphere. Also, the magnitude of recent warming is somewhat uncertain, due to problems in making long-term temperature measurements with thermometers without those measurements being corrupted by a variety of non-climate effects. But there is no way to know if temperatures are continuing to rise now…we only see warming (or cooling) in the rearview mirror, when we look back in time”.

We thank Alice Chu for this chart showing land and sea global  temperature variations since 1880. Note the stable temperatures in the period from 1935 to 1975. Scientists have found it difficult to explain the 40 year pause despite the spectacular increase in green house gas emissions associated with war preparations and in the period of the post war boom which should have resulted in a sharp rise in world temperatures. Add the current 20 year pause to the 40 year period of stable temperatures since 1935 and you have only 19 out of the 79 years till 2014 where temperatures had increased.

Leaders of the world’s top economies have vowed to seek a deal to stave off catastrophic global warming at the Paris conference, according to a draft statement drawn up on Monday.

Negotiators at the Group of 20 summit haggled though the night on the text of the statement as Saudi Arabia and India initially refused to include specific climate goals like curbing global warming to less than 2 degrees Celsius.   Copenhagen conference video below

Roy Spencer makes more sense in regard to the climate change debate. To keep the concept alive, scientists, who are fudging the records to maintain funding, have been using temperature readings recorded back in 1910. “This reveals that since 1910, Australia’s annual-average daily maximum temperatures have increased by 0.75°”
Can you imagine how sophisticated and reliable they would have been in those horse and buggy days

  2. Travel Boy says:

The CSIRO study is a massive setback for the gravy train of bureaucrats bound for the Paris climate conference. They can no longer claim they have a mandate to commit Australia to the financing of green energy in these developing countries. Far better they focus on the real problem…the burgeoning world population.

  3. Alice Chu says:

I have always believed man is responsible for global warming, and still do, but there have been pauses that need explaining. Firstly why had there not been any significant warming of the planet, when in fact there was some cooling, between 1935 and 1974, the period where carbon emissions would have increased dramatically due to the mushrooming of manufacturing, and why there has not been any global warming in the last 20 years? I have attached a graph that could be attached to your article if you see fit.
    Alice Chu.

    1. Hasan says:

Alice. Don’t take any notice of the denialists. The pauses were the periods where heat on the land went into the ocean, a sort of catch up effect. The sharp increase in temperatures prior to 1935 had to halt while sea temperatures matched those of the land. I expect that the current pause in warming could be as long a duration as what occurred after 1935 because it also follows a similar pattern of rising world temperatures.

  4. Synstrat says:

I don’t buy the man made bit. If global warming is caused by man emitting CO2 how do we explain the rapid increase in world temperatures between 1910 and 1940 when man’s emissions would have been a fraction of what they had increased to doing the period of stable temperatures between 1940 to 1975?

  5. Spearmint says:

Is this the average temperature of the Earth? Or the temperature at a specific point? At a specific point wouldn’t mean anything, and even if the average temperature has remained the same according to this measurement, that doesn’t account for an increasing gradient among areas that could be drastically warming and other areas that are cooling.

  6. Newtown says:

The problem is, that having come up with the theory of global warming but being unable to prove it, the IPCC has gone to ground with its “97% consensus” and refuses to debate it. Too many people and organisations, including all the environmental groups, now have a vested financial and political investment in this disproved theory and can’t afford to concede it is fraud.

  7. Non Believer says:

“The right response to the non-problem of global warming is to have the courage to do nothing.”….. Lord monckton

  8. Chaucer says:

While carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions may have contributed in some capacity to climate variations, the available climate data simply does not indicate that the Earth is heading toward catastrophic warming with dire consequences for human health and public welfare. The CSIRO data would necessarily be accurate yet only 45.9% of people they selected to take part in the study believed that global warming was caused by man. Our bureaucrats attending the Paris conference must not obligate Australia to be a contributor to the financing of the “Climate Fund”.

  9. Sceptic says:

Famed economist Adam Smith’s wrote his magnum opus, “The Wealth of Nations,” on the importance of a free society, open exchange, and free markets.
    In it, Smith famously wrote:
“It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own self-interest. … A nation is not made wealthy by the childish accumulation of shiny metals, but it enriched by the economic prosperity of its people.”

  10. Rodway says:

While I accept that there might be a small increase in the world temperatures in the last hundred years, most of which occurred before world’s industrialization, the real challenge is to address the extreme poverty in the world— not the funding of climate change junkets. Nearly 1/2 of the world’s population — more than 3 billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day. More than 1.3 billion live in extreme poverty — less than $1.25 a day. 1 billion children worldwide are living in poverty. According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day due to poverty. Affordable, reliable, and widely available energy is essential to addressing poverty and unlocking opportunity and prosperity. Energy heats homes and meals, runs schools and hospitals that helps people out of poverty.

  11. Centre Left says:

Climate Change Business Journal estimates the Climate Change Industry is a $1.5 Trillion dollar escapade, which means four billion dollars a day is spent on our quest to change the climate. That includes everything from carbon markets to carbon consulting, carbon sequestration, renewables, biofuels, green buildings and insipid cars. For comparison global retail sales online are worth around $1.5 trillion. So all the money wasted on the climate is equivalent to all the goods bought online.

  12. Clean Air says:

Both sides of the debate should contemplate the fact that a 100 year study is but a millionth of second in the celestial time clock. For example, we know that clouds take up 60% of the earths atmosphere, to help keep the earth cool by reflecting sunlight, but we can only guess on the extent to which this may change or what we can learn from the limited data we have from the past Clean air and the reduction of extreme poverty should be our immediate priority.

  13. Ripped Off says:

Global warming was not a problem until the money showed up. Skeptics advancing alternative explanations (hypotheses) for climate variability represent the way the researcher community used to operate, before politics, policy outcomes, and billions of dollars got involved.

  14. Donald says:

The agreenent struck at the Paris climate conference will mean the poor developing countries who have no sewage, no fresh water where many are starving will receive wind turbines and solar panels.

  15. Of India says:

CO2 is necessary to plant life and in regulating our temperature and climate. The level of CO2 prior to the industrial revolution in the 1700s was about 280 parts per million in the atmosphere and no one believes that level was excessive. Today that level is about 390ppm and CO2 has become a pollutant. At what level did this change of status occur and in which decade or generation?
