The IPCC have recently shortened the length of time Carbon Dioxide stays in the atmosphere for as little as 5 years. IPC CO2 Residency  (Atmospheric Life Time).  In contrast NASA seems to be going the other way: “Changes to our atmosphere associated with reactive gases (gases that undergo chemical reactions) like ozone and ozone-forming chemicals like nitrous oxides, are relatively short-lived. Carbon dioxide is a different animal, however”. “Once carbon dixide added to the atmosphere, it hangs around, for a long time: between 300 to 1,000 years”. “Thus, as humans change the make up of the atmosphere by emitting carbon dioxide, those changes will endure on the timescale of over many human lives”                      .The Atmosphere: Getting a Handle on Carbon Dioxide

The Secretary-General, Mr Guterres, underscored that we must listen to the science, which says that the 1.5-degree limit is only possible if we ultimately stop burning all fossil fuels. Not reduce, not abate, but phase out all fossil fuels with a clear time frame aligned with 1.5 degrees celsius. Mr. Guterres also had a message for fossil fuel company leaders: Do not double down on an obsolete business model. Lead the transition to renewables. But how can we do that without the use of fossil fuels that are required for their  manufacture, transport and replacement etc.. However, according to the IPCC, Carbon dioxide (CO₂) Estimated atmospheric concentration of CO₂ had  increased from 280 ppm in 1880 to 421 ppm in 2023, an increase of 141 ppm in 173 years….a rate of about 0.81 ppm per year, the latest figures indicate CO2 was increasing at a rate of about 1.70 ppm per year. Their estimated change per year of 1.5 ppm is still virtually nothing! The culling of our livestock because they burp an fart the deadly methane, takes up only 1745 parts per billion of our atmosphere- hardly detectable…. One PPB is equal to 0.001 PPM. According to the IPCC the Carbon Dioxide stays in  the atmosphere for as little as five years and methane for 12 years. …Neither one accumulates……
