THEY DROPPED EARTH TEMPERATURES TO MAKE WAY FOR WARMING

The WMO, (World Meteorology Organisation), an affiliate of the United Nations, that began publishing climate data in 1993, do not measure global temperatures but rely on the main data sets from which to determine average global temperatures such as NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), the UK Met Office and CRU East Anglia. The first statements published by the WMO in 1992 and 1993 included the same baseline period of 1951-1980 and anomalies as British and US but differed between 15 C and 14 C baseline temperatures.

The British climatologists, led by David Parker of the Government’s met office office and Phil Jones of the University of East Anglia, reported yesterday that on the basis of preliminary data, 1994 was the third or fourth warmest year since their record-keeping started in 1850. Dr.Hansen’s research group reported on the basis of temperature measurements on land that last year tied with 1987 as the fourth warmest year since comparable records were first kept in 1880. In both years, the average surface temperature was 59.58 degrees F (15.32 C). (NYT) The 2024 recently measured at 59.47 F (15.26 C), was cooler than in 1987.

The net result globally made 1995 the warmest year since records were first kept in 1856, says a provisional report issued by the British Meteorological Office and the University of East Anglia showing a global temperature of 14.40 C a drop in average global temperatures below what NASA had first measured at 15.33 C down to 14.40 C (57.92 F) in 1995, almost one degree Celsius cooler.

The other, maintained by the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, shows the average 1995 temperature at 59.58 degrees, Fahrenheit (15.33 C) slightly cooler than 1990 as the warmest year since record-keeping began in 1866. (NYT)

They got carried away by Michael Mann’s Hockey stick data in 1998, not because they nescessarily believed the lower reading, but because it gave them the one degree margin they needed to “prove” the earth was warming.
