MAGIC TRANSFORMATION – HYDROGENATION OF CO2 TO GASOLINE
Carbon dioxide (CO2), a major greenhouse gas, is considered the primary culprit in global warming. In recent years, countries have been striving to reduce CO2 emissions due to the impact of carbon emission policies. Petrol is one of the most widely used fuels in the world. With the development of modern society, petrol has not only become essential for a country’s production and daily life but also a daily necessity for many ordinary people. One is a greenhouse gas that contributes to climate warming, while the other is a valuable energy source on which people increasingly rely. Although Gasoline and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) may seem unrelated, scientists have found them to be inseparably linked.

The team has been working on the industrialization of this technology since 2017, and in 2020, they completed the construction of a 1,000-ton pilot plant in Zoucheng Industrial Park, Shandong Province. Since then, they have conducted various tests, including commissioning, formal operation, and optimization of industrial data.
In October 2021, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation organized an on-site assessment of the plant. The evaluation revealed that the unit had significantly reduced the consumption of raw hydrogen and carbon dioxide, maintained low overall process energy consumption, produced environmentally friendly and clean gasoline, and met the unit performance and output targets. A third-party test found that the gasoline produced had an octane number exceeding 90, with a distillation range and composition compliant with National VI standards.
On March 4, 2022, the technology passed another evaluation by the organization’s scientific and technological achievements committee in Shanghai. Experts on the evaluation panel unanimously concluded that the CO2 hydrogenation to gasoline technology was the first of its kind in the world, featuring fully independent intellectual property rights and representing a globally leading achievement.

Surprising Highlights
The catalyst used in this process is relatively simple to prepare, and the raw materials are inexpensive: FeCl3, FeCl2, NaOH, and a common molecular sieve. This makes it much more cost-effective compared to the sophisticated catalysts typically discussed in scientific literature. The team has also proposed mechanisms by which all three reaction steps can be fine-tuned by adjusting the catalyst composition. In the future, better selectivity could be achieved with the use of suitable molecular sieves, potentially enabling the synthesis of other valuable products.

The atmospheric residence of CO2 has only five years before it is taken up by the oceans and earth’s plant life. So unless this conversion process is monitored we could actually finish up with a dearth of carbon dioxide. It could be a case of conversion before it disappears naturally any how!
We moved away from the area of Manningham area four years ago but often go to their website to see what they are up to. Apparently they are all in on this carbon dioxide scare and have employed the Climate Council, an outfit headed by Tim Flannery who once declared that our dams would never fill again, to hold “information sessions” It flattened me when I read it because Manningham, once a conservative unit, have apparently swung sharply to the extreme left.
Crusades always end badly and the climate emergency concept is no exception
This process has been around for a while. They say it is too expensive but not as expensive as the net zero plan which is crippling the world economy. Thank God for Trump!
Declaring war on an essential trace gas as a policy has lost its traction. The Democrats need to reset and put the global warming scare away if they want to win office again.
The SuperC™ supercritical CO2 extraction system offers a single expandable solution for small batch producers, inline batch testers, and even home extraction enthusiasts. The OCO Labs team has over 30 years of experience working with CO2 and other compressed gases, and we are the Illinois based manufacturer of the world’s most accessible CO2 extractor, the SuperC™. Our tabletop CO2 extraction systems are now in homes and labs across ten countries. Manningham Council could make a deal with super C where our ratepayers could buy one at a reasonable price and obviate the need for these large ugly machines….it’s not hard!
How were we able to measure the earth’s average surface temperature when 71% was ocean? It was not until the late 1970’s, when satellites were employed, that ocean data became available..
Is it really necessary? After all the atmospheric residency is limited so why the need for conversion when it is gobbled up by the Ocean and Plant life? As you said earlier in your introduction, it is gone within five years.
It varies between 5 to 10 years. The continuum concept is consistent with the record of the seasonal photosynthesis swing of atmospheric CO2 which supports a residence time of about 5 years, as also does the bomb C14 decay history. The short residence time suggests that anthropogenic emissions contribute only a fraction of the observed atmospheric rise, and that other sources need be sought.
